DRESDEN, Tenn., (KBSI) – Dresden Middle School will host its annual Field of Heroes ceremony on Friday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. on the school’s front lawn to honor the service and sacrifice of local veterans. The community is invited to attend.

The event, organized by Dresden Middle School educators, community partners, and the Northwest Tennessee Eagle Riders, is a not-for-profit initiative designed to inspire reflection and gratitude ahead of Veterans Day.

Memorial flags, each purchased in honor of a veteran—past or present, combat or peacetime—will fill the front lawn of the school. Each flag bears the name of a veteran and serves as a symbol of pride, patriotism, and reverence.

The display will remain open to the public from Nov. 8 through Nov. 23, offering families and visitors an opportunity to pay tribute.

“Part of our role as educators is to teach students how to honor those who came before them,” said Betsi Foster, assistant director of Weakley County Schools.

“The Field of Heroes gives our students a tangible way to show gratitude and understand the true meaning of service and sacrifice.”

Weakley County Schools encourages families, veterans, and community members to come together in this shared moment of gratitude and remembrance.
