Driver injured in school parking lot crash in McCracken County

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A 77-year-old woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash at Lone Oak Middle School, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash occurred about 10:15 a.m. in the school parking lot. Firefighters with the Lone Oak Fire Department freed the driver, identified as Jacquelyn Willie, from the vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital with incapacitating injuries and later transferred to an out-of-state hospital for further treatment.

Investigators said Willie’s vehicle struck a gate, which penetrated the passenger compartment and caused her injuries. A juvenile passenger was not hurt.

The sheriff’s collision reconstruction team is continuing the investigation.

Personnel from McCracken County Public Schools, Lone Oak Fire Department, Mercy Regional Ambulance Service and Harper’s Towing assisted at the scene.
