Driver of stolen vehicle killed in vehicle crash

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI) – Person crashes after stealing vehicle.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department on October 1, 2024, around 9:15 pm they received a call from an individual who had recently reported their vehicle stole.

The victim relayed that they were following their vehicle and were near the intersection of Highway 53 and Thomas Street.

Officers were then dispatched to the 200 block of Highway 53, where the vehicle was last observed. As Officers arrived in the area, they met the vehicle traveling the opposite direction -North at a high rate of speed, with its headlights off.

Officers turned around and found the vehicle was involved in an accident at the intersection of Highway 53 and Highway 142.

Officers began helping both drivers.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as Shanea Brown age 38 of Poplar Bluff, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other driver suffered moderate injuries.
