Du Quoin man arrested after allegedly striking officer

DU QUOIN, Ill., (KBSI) — A Du Quoin man was arrested Sunday evening after police said he threatened officers and struck one during an incident at a convenience store.
Officers with the Du Quoin Police Department were called around 6:55 p.m. March 29 to the Shell convenience store on Main Street for a report of an intoxicated person.
Police said the man, identified as Coy A. Davis, initially refused commands and became agitated, making threatening remarks toward officers. During the encounter, Davis allegedly became aggressive and struck an officer.
Davis was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery to a peace officer, threatening a public official and resisting or obstructing.
He was transported to the Perry County Jail and released into the custody of jail staff.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
