Du Quoin man arrested on theft, trespass charges at Walmart

DU QUOIN, Ill., (KBSI) — A Du Quoin man was arrested twice in connection with incidents at Walmart over a two-day period, according to the Du Quoin Police Department.
Officers responded around 1:03 p.m. March 24 to a report of a man leaving the store with an electric shopping cart. Police said the cart was located nearby, and surveillance footage identified the suspect as Braden D. Stroud.
While searching for Stroud, employees reported he had returned to the store and was acting unruly. Officers responded and arrested him on a theft charge. He was taken to the Perry County Jail and later released under the Illinois SAFE-T Act.
Early March 25, officers were again called to Walmart for a report of a man inside the business who refused to leave. Police identified the individual as Stroud and issued a trespass warning before escorting him off the property.
Minutes later, officers returned after Stroud was seen near the store entrance. He was arrested for criminal trespass and transported to the Perry County Jail.
Stroud was cited for theft over $500 and criminal trespass to real property.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
