Du Quoin man charged with aggravated battery, robbery

DU QUOIN, Ill., (KBSI) — A 41-year-old Du Quoin man has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery and robbery following a physical altercation early Thursday morning.

According to the Du Quoin Police Department, officers responded to a report of a fight under the overpass near S. Chestnut St. around dawn. Upon arrival, they found an adult male victim with multiple injuries [1).

Emergency medical services were called to the scene to provide aid. During the investigation, officers identified John W. Young as the suspect, accusing him of severely battering the victim and stealing their personal property.

Young was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery and robbery. He is being held at the Perry County Jail, pending further court proceedings. Young is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
