Dyersburg teacher charged with assault

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (KBSI) – A Dyersburg teacher faces an assault charge after police say he was caught on video throwing a juveniles to the ground.

Carey Sanders, 61, of Greenfield, Tenn. turned himself in to police Thursday night.

On April 18, Sanders attempted to break up a fight between two 14-year-old girls inside the school. Police say video shows Sander forcefully throwing one of the juveniles to the ground.

Both teen girls involved in the fight were issued juvenile citations for disorderly conduct and released pending Dyer County Juvenile court action.
