Earthquake of 2.4 magnitude shakes up Mississippi County
MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – “There were 144 earthquakes so far this year there were only five last year. There’s only been one so far this year that’s got three magnitude or greater.”
Jeff Grunwald the Manager at New Madrid Historical Museum says these are the four words to remember when dealing with an earthquake.
“With the earthquakes if you feel some shaking, you should remember four words drop, cover, and hold on,” said Grunwald.
Faith Ransom is from Mississippi County. She says she did not feel the earthquake, but says the earthquake of 2.4 magnitude this morning was the word going around town.
“While I was at work, a few customers came through talking about it normally goes on,” said Ransom. “We hear about it through the drive-through or something but a couple people a few people said that they really didn’t feel it. They just heard about it also but just in case you never know how big it’s gonna be or how small. I would advise everyone to keep any sharp utensils or any sharp objects anything put up in case of the kids you never know what can fall from somewhere or fall anywhere you know just be safe.”
