MURPHYSBORO, Ill., (KBSI) — Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association is launching a new grant program aimed at helping schools meet students’ basic needs.

The Student Support Grants will provide funding for items such as hygiene products, school supplies, clothing, laundry access and food pantry items to support student well-being.

Officials said six $500 grants will be awarded for the 2026–27 school year. Applications will be reviewed anonymously and selected based on need and potential impact.

The program is open to school personnel serving public prekindergarten through 12th grade students within EECA’s service territory, regardless of whether the school receives electric service from the cooperative.

Applications opened April 1 and will close May 13. Grant recipients are expected to be announced by July 31, with funds distributed in August.

More information and application details are available on Student Support Grants – Egyptian Electric Cooperative.
