Elderly man found dead in cold weather in Herrin
HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) – The Herrin Police Department and Investigations Unit are investigating after an elderly man was found dead outside in the cold temperatures in Herrin on Sunday.
Herrin police responded to the 400 block of N. 17th Street on January 14.
An elderly man identified as 72-year-old Kenneth F. Szredy was seen laying outside near his vehicle.
It was determined Szredy passed away from injuries consistent with an accidental fall and weather conditions at the time of his death.
The Herrin Police Department and Investigations Unit determined there is no risk to the community.
Illinois State Police and the Williamson County Coroner’s Office assisted the police department.
