ELVERADO, Ill. (KBSI) — Elverado Community Unit School District 196 issued a public apology to Aaron Wright following statements made during last week’s school board meeting regarding discussions about a possible athletic cooperative.
The district’s Board of Education said it had previously stated Wright was having conversations about a sports co-op without authorization.
However, district officials said they later learned Wright had spoken with an administrator and had been told it was acceptable to gather information for discussion purposes.
The board said a lack of communication between the administrator and the board led members to believe Wright was acting independently to promote an agenda.
Officials said the statement was issued to clear Wright of wrongdoing.
The district also stated it is not currently considering a sports cooperative and remains uninterested in pursuing one at this time.
