Emergency responders evacuate 14 people, pets from flooded RV park in Paducah
PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Emergency responders evacuated 14 people, four dogs and a cat from an RV park on Shemwell Lane on Tuesday morning after rising floodwaters trapped them in their homes and campers.
McCracken County Emergency Management was notified of the situation at 8 a.m. and dispatched the McCracken County Rescue Squad Water Response Team to the scene. The Concord Fire Department Swift Water team was also called in for mutual aid.
A coordinated effort between multiple agencies resulted in the successful evacuation of those trapped. The First Baptist Paducah Church provided transportation to local hotels or to meet family members.
Agencies assisting in the evacuation included Kentucky Emergency Management, Concord Fire Department, McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, McCracken County Animal Control and Jackson Purchase Electric Company.
