Eric Chappell named Sikeston Parks and Recreation Director

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Sikeston announced Tuesday that Eric Chappell has been named the city’s new parks and recreation director. He is scheduled to begin the role Jan. 5.

Chappell, a Sikeston native, graduated from Sikeston High School and later earned his degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 2009. He began volunteering with the YMCA in 2006 and has remained with the organization in various roles, most recently serving as its chief operating officer.

Chappell and his wife, Mykah, have three sons. He is active in coaching youth sports and enjoys hunting and fishing. The couple is also involved with Discover Life Church.

“I’m looking forward to getting started,” Chappell said. “I think there are a lot of exciting possibilities, and I want Sikeston to set the standard for parks and recreation.”

City officials welcomed Chappell to his new role.
