“Everybody checked their egos at the door” Response to Glenallen tornado swift, effective

GLENALLEN, Mo. (KBSI) – Sgt. Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in all his years as a public information officer and dealing with largescale events like the Glenallen tornado, the response to this storm was one of the smoothest operations he has been a part of.

“Everybody checked their egos at the door, left them on the parking lot,” he said.

Woodland School District Superintendent Adrian Elfrink said seeing the support from far and wide has provided something positive during a tough time.

“When you see people six and seven hours away setting aside their lives to come and have an impact on ours, it’s just been a special last couple of days in the middle of some tragic events,” he said.

Woodland High School opened its doors to first responders, serving as a command center for the recovery efforts, and Parrott said this generosity is not surprising at all.

“I have no doubts that if this were to happen in another county, most of the people here would load up and go to that county, and assist, as well,” he said.

And as for the first responders…

“We may wear different uniforms; however, we are all of one team, and we’re all going to do the job that we need to do,” Parrott said.
