Excessive heat, humidity on Tuesday
There is a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH in place until 3:00AM Tuesday. This is on the very northeastern edge of our viewing area. Most of us won’t see storms Monday night into early Tuesday.
We have another hot day in store for us on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to be into the middle 90s around lunch time tomorrow!
High temperatures across the region are forecasted to be in the upper 90s, with dewpoints reaching in the upper 70s. The combination of heat and humidity will make any time spent outside very uncomfortable.
Heat index values will be to be well into the triple digits across the area on Tuesday. Several spots could see heat index values past 110 degrees.
Portions of SE Missouri is in a Heat Advisory Tuesday into Wednesday. The heat index will top out around 110 degrees in the orange shaded counties.
Due to extremely high heat index values, there is an Excessive Heat Warning in effect from Tuesday into Wednesday. Any individuals with outdoor plans should do so with caution and drink plenty of fluids. The heat index will top out around 115 degrees in the pink/red shaded counties.
There is a small chance of evening showers for the area on Tuesday night, which could help keep temperatures at bay. Temperatures will remain in the upper 90s for the rest of the week before seeing another chance for showers and thunderstorms on Friday. High temperatures are expected to be in the lower 90s for the upcoming weekend.
