Fall Muster brings Civil War history to Fort D over Labor Day weekend

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Visitors can experience Civil War history during the Fall Muster at Fort D Historic Site over Labor Day weekend.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 5-7 at 920 Fort St. in Cape Girardeau.

Local reenactors will interpret Cape Girardeau’s Civil War history through cannon and rifle demonstrations. Visitors can also step inside the site’s stone building for a look at life during the 1860s.

Fort D is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of Missouri’s last surviving earthen forts.

Admission is free.
