Farmer plants 80 acres of sunflowers for 50th anniversary for wife

(KBSI) – A farmer plants over one million sunflowers for his wife to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Imagine sunflowers as far as the eye can see. One husband is showing his love with a field of flowers planted just for his wife.

Farmer Lee Wilson decided to farm a different kind of crop than he usually does this season, for a very special 50th wedding anniversary on August 10. So he planted his wife 80 acres of sunflowers, which totals out to about 1.2 million sunflowers.

Lee secretly planted the field back in May with the help of their son so his wife, Renee, would be surprised.

“It made me feel very special. It couldn’t have been a more perfect anniversary gift than a field of sunflowers,” said Renee.

“We met in high school. She couldn’t date until she was 16, and I called her on her 16th birthday and that’s when we started dating,” said Farmer Wilson.
