Farmer rescued from grain bin in Graves County

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A 68-year-old farmer was rescued from a grain bin on his farm in Graves County on Friday morning after becoming trapped by shifting soybeans.

According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, Will Bell was working inside the grain bin on Elmos Road when the incident occurred. First responders from the Cuba and Mayfield fire departments, as well as EMS and the sheriff’s office, responded to the scene.

Cuba firefighters used a Turtle Tube Grain Bin Rescue System to free Bell, who was trapped for approximately two hours. He was transported to a local hospital for observation and treatment.

The rescue system used in the operation was donated to the Graves County Volunteer Fire Departments in 2023 by the Graves County Farm Bureau and local agriculture businesses.

The sheriff’s office praised the Cuba and Mayfield fire departments for their quick response and professional dedication to saving Bell’s life.
