Fashion show in Cape Girardeau to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — The Gateway Down Syndrome Association’s Southeast Missouri Chapter will host a fashion show later this month to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day and promote inclusion in the community.

The event, called DSA Runway, is scheduled for March 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at ROOST in Cape Girardeau. The fashion show will feature models with Down syndrome showcasing clothing and walking the runway as part of a celebration of confidence, individuality and community support.

Organizers say the event is designed to highlight the contributions individuals with Down syndrome make to the community while promoting empowerment and self-expression.

World Down Syndrome Day is observed globally each year on March 21, representing the triplication of the 21st chromosome associated with the condition.

The Gateway Down Syndrome Association’s Southeast Missouri Chapter provides resources, support and programming for individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout the region.

Community members are invited to attend the event and show their support.
