Scott City rice business grows from local startup to global reach

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI)— A Scott City rice company that began as a small family operation in 2019 now ships products around the world and is expanding again with a new flour mill.

Inland Rice Company launched with a focus on farm-direct, whole grain rice and transparency about where food comes from. Owners said demand increased during the COVID-19 pandemic…

Today, the company ships its products beyond Southeast Missouri to customers across the country and internationally.

Owners said quality and health remain central to their mission. The company promotes whole grains and nutrition education and shares recipes online to help customers use its products.

Inland Rice Company also donates a portion of every portion to the Hope international Charity. Owners said giving back has been part of the business model from the start.

The company recently expanded by opening a flour mill next door.

Owners said they plan to continue growing while keeping their roots in the local community.
