KANSAS CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved more than $62 million in funding to support disaster recovery efforts in Missouri and Kansas, including more than $1 million for permanent repairs for the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities.
FEMA officials said the funding will support Public Assistance projects such as debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the repair or replacement of public infrastructure damaged by past disasters.
The approvals are part of a broader effort announced by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In the past week, DHS and FEMA approved more than $2.2 billion in Public Assistance projects nationwide.
FEMA said additional projects across Missouri and Kansas remain under review, and funds will continue to be obligated on a rolling basis as eligibility is confirmed and scopes of work are finalized.
