FEMA inspectors to assess storm damage in 21 Missouri counties

ST. LOUIS, Mo., (KBSI) — Residents and business owners who applied for federal assistance following the March 14-15 storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and wildfires in Missouri will be contacted by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) damage inspectors.

Those who sustained damage in 21 Missouri counties, including Bollinger, Butler and Camden, may be eligible for assistance.

To qualify, residents must register with FEMA, which will then schedule an inspection within 7-10 days.

FEMA inspectors will document damage to homes and personal property, and assess whether homes are safe, sanitary and livable.

Inspectors will evaluate factors such as structural soundness, electrical and plumbing systems, and accessibility features.

The inspection process typically takes 45 minutes, and applicants should hear back from FEMA within 7-10 days.

Legitimate inspectors are FEMA employees who will provide identification and never ask for payment.

Residents can apply for FEMA assistance online, by phone or through the FEMA app.
