Makanda Township Fire Department receives training on new forcible entry door
MAKANDA, Ill. (KBSI) – The Makanda Township Fire Department received training on the use of their new forcible entry door on Monday, July 1.
The door was delivered by a courtesy of Fire Props Unlimited of Belleville, Illinois. The door was built by firemen who were on the job.
The owner of Fire Props and one of the fabricators came down to give an in-depth course on forcing doors to gain entry into buildings.
The new door will “add realism to our training and allow our firefighters to force a real door as close to real life as we can simulate to gain access into a home or business should the occasion arise,” according to a post on the Makanda Township Fire Department’s Facebook page.
The door is very solidly built and will serve training needs for many years to come, according to Makanda firefighters.
