Fire department hosts interactive fire prevention program for local 3rd-graders

HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) – The fire department recently concluded its 8-week S.A.F.E. (Students and Firefighters in Education) program, a fire prevention class for 3rd-graders.

Taught by fire department personnel, the program aims to educate students on fire safety and prevention.

The program culminated in a pizza party and live demonstrations at the fire station, showcasing hazardous materials response, technical rescue techniques, fire extinguisher use and vehicle extrication.

Fire department personnel engaged students and teachers alike in the interactive demonstrations, promoting hands-on learning and fun.
