Fire destroys building in Steele
HOLLAND, Mo. (KBSI) – Firefighters put out a fire Sunday morning in Holland in Pemiscot County.
Just after 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 3, Steele firefighters received a distress call for a structure fire in Holland on Oak Street.
Firefighters did not find anyone inside.
The fire crews faced large flames near a 500 gallon propane tank. They pushed the flames back and disconnected it from the building.
Smaller propane bottles inside the home posed additional risks with their nozzles blowing off due to pressure buildup from the heat.
Firefighters discovered a Bible, charred around the edges but mostly legible, just before the fire was completely put out.
