Fire Marshal awards $1.5 million to Southern Illinois Fire Departments

SHAWNEETOWN, Ill., (KBSI) — Illinois Fire Marshal Pankow visited the Shawneetown Fire Department on Friday to highlight the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s grant and loan programs and present more than $1.5 million in funding to three local departments.

The Shawneetown and Carrier Mills fire departments each received $350,000 through the Fire Station Construction and Rehabilitation Grant Program. The Equality Fire Department received $300,000 through the same program.

Carrier Mills officials also showcased a new fire engine purchased with funds from the Fire Truck and Ambulance Revolving Loan Program, while Shawneetown demonstrated new air packs purchased with the Small Equipment Grant Program.
