Firefighters contain tractor fire in Pemiscot County; No additional damage reported

PEMISCOT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) – Firefighters responded to a tractor fire shortly after noon Thursday that involved several hundred gallons of diesel fuel.

Crews were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. and arrived to find the tractor fully engulfed. Officials said the machine was carrying about 300 gallons of diesel.

Firefighters used an engine and tanker to fight the blaze. Mutual aid was requested from the Caruthersville Fire Department, which provided a tanker and brush truck. The brush unit worked across a field to help extinguish the spreading fire.

The tractor was destroyed, but firefighters were able to save the equipment it was hauling and prevent further damage to the surrounding area.

Officials thanked the Caruthersville Fire Department for its assistance.
