Firefighter’s pull person from home engulfed in flames

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – Firefighter’s pulled a person from a home engulfed in flames.

According to the Mount Vernon Fire Department on Tuesday January 7, 2024, at 3:35 am firefighters they were dispatched to investigate a large amount of smoke just west of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Firefighters located a fire on 2801 Mannen Street, the report they received had stated that the fire was visible from the back porch area and flames were visible on the interior area.

Mount Vernon Fire Department stated there was a single-family residence with heavy smoke and fire coming from all sides.

A crew went in through the front door to search the residence, during the search a person was located about 10 feet from the door.

Firefighters pulled the person from the home, and they were transported to a local hospital where they passed away from their injuries.
