Firefighters put out fire at vacant home in Zeigler

ZEIGLER, Ill. (KBSI) – The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate after Zeigler firefighters put out a fire at a vacant home.

Firefighters were called to a fire at 802 Maple Street on Friday, April 12 at 11:47 p.m.

The first arriving firefighters reported a fire on the back rear corner, near a basement door.

The fire was confined to the exterior of the structure and within the basement of the house.

The inside had smoke damage.

Firefighters say there was a rubbish pile located near the basement entrance.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

No one was injured.

Automatic aid was provided by the Royalton Fire Department with Christopher Fire Department providing mutual aid.
