Firefighters put out house fire in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to a house fire Monday.

It happened at 243 N. Park at 13:39 p.m. with a report of an explosion and fire showing from the home.

A medium size residential house had heavy smoke and fire from the rear of the building when firefighters arrived on scene.

Two people opened a window on the side of the home and crawled out to safety because their exit was blocked by fire and smoke.

The fire was put out in about 25 minutes. Overhaul and the investigation into the fire took two hours.

Fire personnel were on seen for about 2.5 hours.

No injuries were reported.

The fire has been determined to be accidental.
