First Nicole M. Hall Scholarship for Practical Nursing awarded to Three Rivers College student

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – As the need for nurses increases amid a growing nationwide shortage, Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff is working to support future nurses by establishing a new scholarship.

The first ever Nicole M. Hall Scholarship for Practical Nursing was awarded to Toni Boyd.

Nursing professor and scholarship namesake Nicole Hall says she wants Boyd and others to believe they can do anything and know someone is rooting for them.

“And you can absolutely do anything now,” said Nicole Hall, Assistant Professor of Nursing at Three Rivers. “It may take hard work [and] lots of dedication; lots of sacrifices, but you can do it”

“It means a lot because it’s going to help me take care of my boys,” said Toni Boyd, Nicole M. Hall Scholarship recipient. “I’ve been in the nursing field for 20 years and I just want a better life for me and my boys.”
