Flipping for a good cause; Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club hosts 87th Annual Pancake Day
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI)- The Cape Girardeau Noon Lion’s club have done it again, for the 87th time!
They welcomed hundreds of attendees to the A.C Brase Arena building today for their 87th Annual Pancake Day event.
The longstanding tradition serves as a key fundraiser for the Lions Club’s mission to support children with vision and hearing issues.
“For our club this is the 87th Pancake Day, as far as we know this is the longest running Pancake Day, we’re saying in the world, haven’t called Guiness yet to confirm that, we raise a lot of our, we should say our mission is for adolescence with vision issues, hearing issues, like today you could bring in a pair of glasses and it’s as good as a ticket.” Says, Chance Franklin, the Second Vice President of the Lion’s Club.
The event featured a pancake-eating contest, putting Franklin against FOX23’s General Manager Kristie Giompoletti-Shamoun.
Franklin emerged victorious, being able to consume the most pancakes.
The Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club’s Pancake Day has become a part of the community’s calendar, fostering a sense of camaraderie while raising vital funds for those in need.
