Flood warning issued for Black River in Butler County ahead of heavy rain event

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Black River in Butler County, effective late Friday night to Sunday evening.

A multi-day heavy rain event is expected to impact the region, starting Thursday and lasting through Saturday, causing the Black River to rise.

As of now, the forecast predicts the river to oscillate around flood stage, reaching a maximum of 21 feet by Saturday evening. Flood stage is 16 feet.

Butler County officials urge residents to prepare for flooding.

Additionally, minor flooding is forecast for the Black River at Corning, with a flood warning to take effect Monday evening.

Major flooding is also predicted for the Eleven Point River near Ravenden Springs in Randolph County, with a flood warning in effect from Saturday morning until further notice.
