Food pantry receives $10k in donations
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)- The Vienna Client Choice Food Pantry received a donation of $10,000 to help towards their goal of feeding those who need it.
This is the third year they’ve been able to receive this award.
Emily Middleton, the Director of Community Resources for Arrowleaf says,
“When you’re on a tight budget, or you don’t have a lot of money, families might be skipping over the things we might see as a little bit extra.”
The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation awarded the money to the food pantry , being one of twenty-eight organizations across the us receiving a grant from the foundation.
“So really, we want to be able to provide everything in our food pantry just like you can get at any grocery store. to have that dignity and respect, that all of us are going to fall on hard times.” Speaks Middleton.
The food pantry is set up to look and feel like a grocery store, even giving their customers shopping carts for their items.
Middleton adds, “It feels great to know that this is a need, that we see and we’re able to communicate it with our community, and that we’re able to bring in this additional funding to keep the project going.”
The Vienna Client Choice Food Pantry is open to anyone who may be in need of it, you don’t just have to be a client.
The food pantry serves up to seven of its surrounding counties in the Southern Illinois area, with residents sometimes having to travel twenty miles, and going several places, to get that fresh food and produce.
