Former Cardinals shortstop and local dad partner to raise awareness around organ donation

SCOTT CITY, MO.(KBSI) –A former Major League Baseball player and a Scott City father are teaming up to share a message with the next generation — one they hope could ultimately save lives.
Former St. Louis Cardinals infielder David Eckstein joined a Scott City father Chris Snider to speak with Scott City high school students about the importance of organ donation, bringing together two personal perspectives to help students understand the life-changing impact of becoming an organ donor.
The discussion gave students an opportunity to hear about organ donation beyond the statistics, putting a personal face on an issue that affects thousands of families.
Eckstein, who helped the Cardinals win the 2006 World Series, joined Snider to encourage students to learn more about organ donation and consider how one decision can make a lasting difference.
For the Scott City father, the message carries a deeply personal meaning. By sharing his story alongside Eckstein, he hopes students walk away with a better understanding of the importance of organ donation and the lives that can be changed through it.
The speakers encouraged students to have conversations with their families about organ donation and understand the impact their decisions could have on others.
Their message was simple: One conversation, one decision and one donor can make a difference.
The presentation also served as a reminder that organ donation is about more than a medical procedure. It’s about families, hope and giving others a second chance at life.
