Four arrested in McCracken County Jail drug smuggling investigation

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office have arrested four people following a month-long investigation into attempts to smuggle illegal narcotics into the McCracken County Jail.

Investigators say the suspects were placing drugs in areas accessible to inmates in an effort to traffic the contraband into the facility.

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

Anthoney Adkins, 30, of Paducah

Tampering with Physical Evidence

Possession of Synthetic Drugs (1st Offense)

Joseph Aycock, 31, of Paducah

Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree (1st Offense)

William T. Hayes Jr., 30, of Paducah

Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz), 1st Offense (Complicity)

Trafficking in Synthetic Drugs, 1st Offense (Complicity)

Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree (1st Offense, Complicity)

Promoting Contraband, 1st Degree (Complicity)

Domonique Wharton, 31, of Paducah

Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree (1st Offense)

Trafficking in Synthetic Drugs (1st Offense)

Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz)

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Paducah Office of Probation and Parole and the McCracken County Jail.
