CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – In celebration of National Tug of War Day, FOX23 decided to engage in some lighthearted competition.

The FOX23 team nominated Alix Gasser, the new executive director of the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence (SEMO-NASV), to face off against our own Callie Todaro.

“I didn’t have high hopes, but I did my best. Alix Gasser is a tough one to beat,” said Todaro.

After the friendly tug of war, Todaro had the opportunity to speak with Gasser about her plans for the future of SEMO-NASV.

“It’s one of those things where I know I have really big shoes to fill. Kendra Eaves has done great things for our organization, and I’m excited to continue that important work,” said Gasser.

Gasser is focused on launching new initiatives, including a virtual program aimed at junior high and high school students.

“I’m hoping to get a virtual program for junior high and high schools. That’s something I’ll definitely be working on,” said Gasser.

The organization will also continue to grow its Green Bear Project, which provides comfort and care to children in need.

“We want to continue offering excellent services for survivors and expand our Green Bear Project. That’s always a priority for us,” said Gasser.

The Green Bear Project was inspired by Baby Ty, a 2-year-old who tragically passed away after being returned to his biological family from foster care.

Under Gasser’s leadership, SEMO-NASV continues its mission of supporting those affected by sexual violence.

Alix Gasser is the reigning tug of war champion, and a free lunch from Fresh Healthy Cafe is her reward.
