FRANKFORT, Ill., (KBSI) — The Frankfort Community Unit School District #168 has released updated information regarding ongoing contract negotiations with the American Federation of Teachers Local #817, IFT-AFT, AFL-CIO.
On Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board (IELRB) publicly posted the most recent offers from both the Board of Education and the teachers’ union, along with the associated costs and rationale for each proposal. The posting fulfills requirements under the Illinois Education Labor Relations Act (115 ILCS 5/12).
The public can access the documents through the IELRB website at 2025 Public Posting – Offers or on the district’s website at Frankfort CUSD 168. A button labeled “Posting – Negotiation Docs” links directly to the original, full-color postings from both the district and the union, as well as a corrected version submitted by the district.
District officials are encouraging community members to review the materials to stay informed about the status of negotiations. Since the postings were submitted Oct. 3, both sides have held an additional bargaining session and have another scheduled for next week.
Talks are ongoing as both parties continue working toward a fair agreement that supports students, retains faculty and staff, and maintains the district’s financial stability amid uncertain economic conditions.
