BENTON, Ill., (KBSI) — The Franklin County Office of Emergency Management and Communications announced that Phase 1 of the county’s new 911 emergency communications center is now complete.
Officials said the new facility successfully received, processed and dispatched its first 911 call for service on Friday, following the transfer of operations from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Phase 2 of the implementation plan is expected to be completed by December 2025, officials said.
“We extend our gratitude to the dedicated teams at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, 911 Joint Emergency Telephone System Board, and our vendor partners for their extraordinary efforts in making this Phase 1 transition possible,” the agency said in a statement.
