FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – An inmate in the Franklin County Jail faces charges after the sheriff says she struck a correctional officer in the face.

Amber L. Sutton , 29, of Christopher faces felony charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated battery.

A Franklin County Sheriff’s Office correctional officer was moving Sutton to a different holding unit within the jail facility on November 30.

While doing so, Sutton activated a wall mounted fire alarm and then struck a female correctional officer in the face with her fist, according to Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon.

The correctional officer sustained significant injuries, according to Sheriff Bacon.

“I strongly support our employees and recognize the often dangerous jobs that they perform,” said Sheriff Kyle Bacon. “I’m thankful for their hard work and diligence in performing their duties and will always advocate on their behalf.”
