Human remains found in Franklin County believed to be missing man

WEST FRANKORT, Ill. (KBSI) – The remains of a missing man are believed to have been found in rural Benton on Jan. 19.

Detectives from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a location in rural Benton at 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 19 where human remains were discovered, according to Franklin County Chief Deputy Kyle Bacon.

It is believed that the remains are of 34-year-old Joshua R. Brock. He was last seen on Oct. 9 at the Dollar General Store on the west side of West Frankfort.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office asked the public for help finding Brock in November.

An autopsy is scheduled.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, Franklin County Coroner’s Office and the Benton Fire Department.
