Franklin Hospital to open orthopedics clinic in Benton through new partnership

BENTON, Ill., (KBSI) — Franklin Hospital has announced a partnership with The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois to bring an orthopedic clinic to Benton.
Beginning March 4, 2026, Garrett Smith, a board-certified nurse practitioner, will hold clinic hours at 203 Bailey Lane, Suite 2, in the Franklin Hospital Specialty Clinic suite.
Franklin Hospital District CEO Jim Johnson said expanding orthopedic care in Benton has been a long-term goal for the hospital.
“Our partnership with The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois demonstrates our commitment to continue growing and providing additional services to our community,” Johnson said.
Tim Tharp, CEO of The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois, said the organization is excited to expand services into Franklin County.
Smith earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. His practice will offer a full range of orthopedic care, including treatment for traumatic injuries involving the spine, hand, wrist, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle and other areas of the body.
