Fredericktown officers, K9 commended for finding suspect with drugs

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. (KBSI) – The Fredericktown Police chief commended two Fredericktown police officers and a K9 for their work finding a suspect with drugs.

Corporal Lunsford, Officer Sansoucie, K9 Officer Smith and K9 Dean.

Corporal Lunsford conducted a trespassing investigation at the Fredericktown Walmart when K9 Dean was requested for a free air sniff.

K9 Dean presented alert behavior near the passenger side of the suspect’s vehicle.

Police searched the vehicle and the suspect’s belongings. They found a glass smoking device believed to contain methamphetamine, and five capsules believing to contain fentanyl.

A field test kit was performed on both substances yielding a positive result for methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The suspect was placed on a 24 hour hold pending an arrest warrant for two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of trespassing 1st degree.
