Fredericktown R-1 School District closed on Friday

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. (KBSI) – Fredericktown R-1 School District is closed on Friday November 1, 2024, out of concern for the air quality after a fire broke out at a battery plant Critical Minerals.

According to the Fredericktown town school district Facebook page due to air quality concerns, and wind direction they chose to close school today.

The emergency management teams plan to perform a suppressive treatment at the Critical Minerals site today that will create smoke which also played a part in the school’s decision to close school on Friday.

To ensure safety the school district will still have a football game this evening, but it will be played in Potosi.
