Fredericktown Police K9 alerts to drug activity during traffic stop

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. (KBSI) – Police officers say Fredericktown Police Department’s K9 helped find methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

On April 1, Fredericktown Police Officer Zack Boyer and K9 Balt were requested to assist Madison County Sheriff’s deputy Brandon Wheeler on a traffic stop.

Deputy Wheeler suspected illegal drug activity and requested Officer Boyer to do a free air sniff of the vehicle with K9 Balt.

Officer Boyer deployed K9 Balt and Balt alerted on the back passenger door of the vehicle.

A search was conducted, and multiple clear baggies with a crystal substance were located inside the vehicle and a glass smoking device with white residue was located inside the vehicle near the back passenger door.

The crystal substance was located in the center console of the vehicle.

The occupant of the vehicle willingly admitted that this crystal-like substance was methamphetamine.

Officer Boyer turned over all located evidence to Deputy Wheeler.
