Free rides offered to voters in Carbondale, Ill.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI)- As voting starts to take place in Southern Illinois, the Rides Mass Transit District is offering free rides to voters.

Ana Deunamuno, is the Public Relations Coordinator for Rides Mass Transit District.

“Really anything as long as it’s in the county,” she said.

The transportation is being offered at no cost for the consolidated election taking place Tuesday, April 4, in Carbondale.

Anybody residing in the coverage area can schedule a ride with the transit district to their local polling place.

“It’s just a rewarding thing to know that the service is being utilized and valued. We’ve been grateful to be able to offer this service every year, for really any of the elections that take place,” said Deunamuno.

A smaller turnout of scheduled rides is expected this year for the consolidated elections compared to what they expect for 2024  primary election.
