Gas outage reported in Jackson, Fruitland and Gordonville as crews work to restore service

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) — Liberty Utilities crews are responding to a natural gas outage affecting customers in Jackson, Fruitland and Gordonville, Missouri.
Company officials said the main pipeline serving the communities was shut down early Thursday to allow crews to assess the situation and begin repairs. The utility said the system remains safe and there is no threat to the public.
Liberty Utilities said severe weather has slowed response efforts and an estimated time for service restoration has not yet been determined.
Crews are expected to go door to door to shut off service at gas meters as a safety precaution ahead of repairs. Once repairs are completed, crews will again visit homes to restore service and perform safety checks on natural gas appliances.
Officials said residents who smell gas should leave the area immediately and contact the company’s gas emergency line.
