Gas service restoration continues in Jackson
FOX23 News at 9 p.m
JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI)- Liberty Utilities says crews have now restored natural gas service to about 3,000 customers following last week’s storm damage that caused a major gas outage in Jackson.
Crews are continuing to work across all restoration zones and are focusing on both homes and businesses. Utility officials say most businesses have already had service restored or crews have left instructions for the next steps if no one was available.
Teams will continue working Tuesday, March 10 until about 10 p.m., weather permitting, and will resume restoration efforts Wednesday, March 11 around 7:30 a.m.
Officials still expect full restoration to be completed by the end of the week.
Liberty Utilities asks residents to leave their porch light on if they are home, which lets crews know it is okay to come inside to complete a meter turn-on and safety inspection. Someone 18 or older must be present for crews to relight appliances and restore service.
If you miss crews, follow the instructions on the door hanger left at your home to schedule service restoration.
If you smell gas, leave the area immediately and call Liberty Utilities at 1-855-644-8134 or 911.
