Georgia man scams local businesses out of hundreds of dollars

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – A man is in custody after scamming multiple cashiers.
According to Sikeston Department of Public safety they were made aware of a “quick change” incident on January 18, 2025.
The reported incident happened the night before and was caught on security camera.
The suspect identified as 34-year-old Dominique X. Ezell was seen on a security camera spending time at a retail store in Sikeston.
The suspect would continuously ask the cashier to exchange larger bills for smaller bills.
The suspect would then continuously talk to the cashier and then ask for his original bills back in an effort to confuse them.
A description of the suspect was obtained, and Sikeston DPS was informed Minor Police Department had arrested a male matching the description for a similar incident at another retail store within city limits.
Dominique X. Ezell age 34 of Stone Mountain, Georgia faces charges of stealing through Scott County.
It was determined Ezell stole hundreds of dollars from local businesses through a quick-change tactic.
The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is asking that any other area businesses who may had had this happen to contact them as soon as possible.
Dominique X. Ezell was arrested and is currently in Scott County Custody with a $1,000 cash bond.
