CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The 2025 Gobble Wobble 5K drew its largest crowd to date on Thursday as 700 runners and walkers participated in the annual Thanksgiving morning event benefiting myTEAM Triumph of Southeast Missouri.

The race began at 8 a.m. at Arena Park, where participants gathered for warmups and pre-race activities before taking to the course. Organizers said this year’s turnout marks the biggest in the event’s history, reflecting growing community support for myTEAM Triumph, an organization that creates inclusive racing experiences for people with disabilities.

Runners of all ages made their way through the course, many joining with family members, volunteer “angels,” and community teams who assist and accompany the organization’s “captains,” or athletes with disabilities. The 5K is one of the group’s key annual fundraisers, helping support adaptive racing equipment, volunteer training, and participation in regional races throughout the year.

The Gobble Wobble has become a Thanksgiving tradition in Cape Girardeau, drawing both competitive runners and families looking to start the holiday with a community-oriented activity. The event aims to raise awareness of inclusion in athletics while promoting health, fitness and connection across the region.

Organizers said they hope to continue building on the momentum of this year’s record-setting participation and further expand opportunities for athletes in Southeast Missouri.
